Personal comments from Bruce Hoadley, who was a classmate of Sylvia's at Needham Broughton HS.
Sylvia lived in Concord, CA. I live in the hills to the west of Sonoma, CA. The view from my house includes San Pablo Bay and Concord, CA. With a good telescope, I could see Sylvia's house from my house. Again, fortunately for Sylvia, I do not have a good telescope.
Another fun fact is that I had a crush on Sylvia in the eight grade. Again, fortunately for Sylvia, I had no clue about how to put my crush into action.
However, I did know Sylvia quite well and she was a classy woman. We will miss her.
So sorry to hear this. I can share a memorie. Sylvia was the first date I had. Richard Jones and I double dated and my dad took us to the movies. I lost touch with her as time went by.
Sylvia and I met in the fifth grade and became lifelong friends. Many people will remember what a talented young person she was in music, dance and theater. In addition to raising three children she established a piano school and shared her love of piano with many students. She remained interested in classmates forever and had plans to come to our 66th reunion. Unfortunately medical problems made that impossible. I treasure our friendship and will always miss her.
