Obituary for Clinton Bill Harwood, Jr. of Fletcher, NC
December 12, 1937 - September 9, 2009

Clinton William Harwood, Jr., aka "Bill", was born in 1937 and a resident of Raleigh, North Carolina, for most of his life. He was the son of Clinton William Harwood of Stanly County, NC and Mary Elizabeth McLeod of Robeson County, NC. He graduated from Needham Broughton High School and attended North Carolina State University in the School of Design. He enlisted in the United States Air Force for four years and was assigned to a Strategic Air Command Base in Minot, North Dakota. Upon discharge from the Air Force, Bill lived in New York City and later, Washington, D.C.

Bill was intuitive from a young age, artistic, clever, sensitive and sympathetic toward others. One of our first cousins stated that Bill was the most unique person that he had ever met. He was an advocate of good taste in all things and, with a small amount of expenditure, he could create a million dollar decor. Another one of his talents was his ability to grow beautiful plants and flowers.

His presence will be missed.

Bill is survived by his sister, Mary H. Poole.

Bill's parents, Clinton William Harwood (1912 - 1979) and Mary Elizabeth McLeod Harwood (1913 - 1997), pre-deceased him.
