Obituary for Albert Richard Johnson of Greensboro, NC
January 31, 1939 - February 20, 2018

Albert R. Johnson, aged 79, passed away on Tuesday, February 20 at Clapp’s Nursing Center.

Mr. Johnson graduated from Needham Broughton High School in Raleigh, N.C. and attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  After serving in the United States Marine Corps, he operated Pearson Music Company in Greensboro for 40 years.  In addition to running the business and selling pianos and musical instruments, he installed many Rodgers organs in churches throughout the state.   Following his retirement, he worked for Mercedes-Benz of Greensboro. 

Mr. Johnson was a very active member of Rehobeth United Methodist Church.  He sang in the Chancel Choir, taught the Adults for Christ Sunday School Class for many years, served on a wide variety of committees, and volunteered with the church’s Boy Scout troop. 

He enjoyed the companionship of dogs throughout his life, particularly his chocolate lab Molly, who was a special pet during his retirement.   He also enjoyed reading John Grisham novels and spending time with his family and friends. 

The family expresses deep appreciation for the dedicated attention of all of his caregivers during the past three years, especially Mary Lou Jones, Stephanie Chapman, and LaQunda Coley.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Alice Ann Johnson; daughter, Edie Johnson and her husband Jason Overall, with children James and Elizabeth; son Andy Johnson, his wife Michaella and their children Emma Lee, Kerri, William and Dorothy.  He was preceded in death by his sister, Carol, and parents, Albert R. and Edith Arnold Johnson.
