Obituary for Chester "Doug" Sallinger of Raleigh, NC
August 12, 1937 - December 4, 2008

Chester "Doug" Sallinger, 71, died on December 4, 2008. 

He was born on August 12, 1937, in Raleigh, to his parents, the late Murrell Clayton Sallinger and Virginia Brown Sallinger. 

He graduated from Needham Broughton High School and sold investment property in the Triangle Area. Doug had a great sense of humor, loved sports, especially those at NC State. Closest to his heart and most important was his family and grandchildren. He will always be loved and cherished. 

He is lovingly remembered by his dear companion of 30 years, Jan Turner; his son, Dane Sallinger and his wife, Marie of Wake Forest and his daughters, Felicia Dean and husband, Stephen of Huntersville, NC, Brenda Hawkins and husband, Eddie of Clearwater, FL. and their mother, Susan Crawford. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Zachary and Daniel Sallinger, Kelsey and Harrison Dean, Tyson and Nicole Hawkins. 

He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Sonny Sallinger.
