Elizabeth Carol Kesler (Arthur), 69, of Swansboro died Thursday, June 26, 2008.

She was born April 16, 1939, in Wilmington, the only child of Lottie Venters Kesler and Bernie Barton Calhoun Kesler. "Betsy" spent her formative years in Richlands and Jacksonville, completing her schooling at Needham Broughton High School in Raleigh. She graduated from Women's College in 1960 with a degree in business administration. In 1961, she married Ernest Stevenson Arthur Jr. of Greensboro. They settled in High Point, where they spent many years raising their children and enjoying their friends. Betsy and Steve were founding members of the La Soiree dance club, and also enjoyed participating in the Quadrille and High Point Debutante clubs. Betsy was active for many years as a volunteer in the Junior League of High Point and at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church. In 2000, when Betsy and Steve permanently moved their home to Swansboro, they continued to surround themselves with fun-loving friends. Always living life to the fullest, Betsy was a whirlwind of energy and activity, particularly enjoying tennis, boating and watching the sunset from their dock.

She is survived by her husband, Steve; her children, Michelle Binnie and Dr. Bart Arthur; their spouses, John Binnie and Alice Arthur; and her four grandchildren, Holden and Charles Arthur and Alexandra and Angus Binnie.
